It's hard to believe that a team that's 3-6 has a clear path to the playoffs, but that's precisely the case for the Miami Dolphins after their 23-15 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football.

The Dolphins' win put them, incredibly, within clear shot of the 7th and final playoff spot in the AFC.  Despite only having 10% odds to make the postseason, per NFL.com's playoff picture, Miami sits just one game back the loss column from the Denver Broncos, who sit at 5-5.

The Dolphins got a favor from the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, who blocked a 35-yard field goal as time expired to defeat the Broncos 16-14.  Now, the watch will be on to see how the Broncos do going forward. Denver hosts Atlanta next weekend and finish with an extremely challenging 3-game stretch: at the Chargers, at the Bengals, vs. the Chiefs.

The Dolphins' schedule down the stretch is rather manageable.  Miami hosts Las Vegas and New England over the next two weeks with two games against the reeling 3-7 Jets – who Miami has owned over the last several years – left to go. Of course, it's not all good news, with the Packers and Texans remaining on the road to go with a home tilt against the 49ers.

There are also a pair of AFC teams sitting at 4-6, including the Indianapolis Colts, who defeated the Dolphins 16-10 back in Week 7.  As the Colts hold the tiebreaker, Dolphins fans should be pulling for the Colts to continue to lose, which they've done three times in a row.

It's not going to be easy, but if Miami can get hot and go on a run, there's a chance to still salvage what had appeared to be a lost season.
