It appears the Miami Dolphins aren't quite done adding some noteworthy names in free agency. After adding Jonnu Smith, Jordan Poyer, and Kendall Fuller last week, among others, in free agency, the Dolphins are reportedly meeting with free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham, Jr. on Thursday.
Per The Athletic's Senior NFL Insider Dianna Russini, Beckham Jr. was at the Dolphins' facility on Thursday morning.
It's no secret that Miami could use a solid third wide receiver. The Dolphins did bring back both Braxton Berrios earlier this month and River Cracraft today, but the team's brass obviously believes they need more of an upgrade to the wide receiver room.
Beckham, Jr. had an electric start to his career with the New York Giants, who drafted him with the 12th overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft. He surpassed 1300 receiving yards with double digit touchdowns each of his first three seasons, earning AP offensive rookie of the year honors and three straight Pro Bowl appearances.
After spending parts of three seasons with the Browns, Cleveland released him on November 8, 2021. He caught on with the Rams five days later and helped lead them to a Super Bowl championship. He caught 21 passes for 288 yards and 2 touchdowns in the postseason including a 17-yard touchdown in the Rams' 23-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI.
How much does Beckham, Jr. have left in the tank? He was adequate but unspectacular last season in Baltimore, totaling 35 catches for 535 yards and 3 touchdowns in 14 games.
However, if there's one coach who would know how to get the most out of him, it would likely be Mike McDaniel. Dolphins fans will know soon enough if he'll get that opportunity.
