The Houston Texans linebackers coach and brother of University of Mississippi head coach Lane Kiffin will reportedly meet with the Dolphins to interview for their defensive coordinator position.
Kiffin and Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel have some history together. Both were with the San Francisco 49ers in 2018 and 2019, where Kiffin served as the pass rush specialist while working with Nick Bosa. Kiffin later moved on to the Cleveland Browns from 2020-2022, where he served as defensive line coach while working with Myles Garrett. He spent 2023 with the Texans as their linebacker coach.
Kiffin has certainly worked with some of the best in the NFL under his tutelage, so that's certainly something positive for his chances. The question remains whether the Dolphins feel comfortable with handing the reins over to a first-time defensive coordinator.
Given that nine days have passed since Vic Fangio and Miami mutually agreed to part ways, Dolphins fans should know the answer pretty soon.
