Pro Football Network believes the Miami Dolphins are a potential landing spot for one of the NFL's biggest stars this offseason.

But if the move is going to happen, the Dolphins will need to be creative.

Pro Football Network suggested this week that Miami should trade for six-time Pro Bowler Jalen Ramsey due to the Dolphins' need at cornerback.

From Pro Football Network:

Miami has a need at corner. Xavien Howard, injured for most of the year, didn’t look like himself in 2022. Byron Jones didn’t play a single snap as he dealt with an injury of his own and is likely to be elsewhere in 2023. Undrafted rookie gem Kader Kohou is sure to remain relevant going forward, but CB is undoubtedly one of Miami’s top roster needs.

The price would have to be right in terms of trade compensation. And Miami will already have a ton of cap space tied up at the position, even if Jones is released or traded. So this is likely the longest-shot destination on our list.

While Pro Football Network might think this makes sense for the Dolphins, there's very little chance that it actually happens.

For starters, Miami doesn't have the draft capital to outbid other teams in a deal with the Los Angeles Rams.

Then there's the salary cap issue. The Dolphins already don't have a lot of room. If they designate Byron Jones as a post-June 1 release, they'd save $13.6 million in cap space (with a $4.7 million dead cap hit in 2023 and a $10 million dead cap hit in 2024).

Trading for Ramsey would include a $17 million cap hit in 2023.

Miami probably isn't going to have the cap space to add Ramsey, unless they find a way to get creative.

Ramsey playing for the Dolphins is a fun thought, but there's very little chance it actually happens.
