It was a case of good news, bad news on Monday afternoon for the Miami Dolphins' roster.

The Dolphins announced a number of changes, headlined by the activation of WR River Cracraft off of the injured reserve list.  However, starting right tackle Austin Jackson – who was already ruled out for Monday night's game against the Los Angeles Rams with a knee injury – is headed to IR, meaning he will miss the Dolphins' next four games.

Cracraft's return from a shoulder injury he suffered in the preseason should be a big boost for an offense that could use help in the intermediate passing game.  The veteran wideout has the trust of QB Tua Tagovailoa and should slot into the passing game as the WR3 quickly, especially given the lack of impact that Odell Beckham, Jr. has yet to make in this offense.

Speaking of impacts on offense, Jackson's absence over the next four games (including tonight against the Rams) will be a big one.  A 2020 first round pick along with his QB, Jackson took a leap forward in his career last year at right tackle, earning a healthy extension in the process.

Given Tagovailoa is left-handed, Jackson has held the key responsibility of protecting his blind side.  That duty will now pass on to swing tackle Kendall Lamm, who filled in well on the left side in place of Terron Armstead last season. The Dolphins wisely brought Lamm back on a one-year deal last offseason, and that decision is proving wise in November.

The Dolphins and Rams are set to kick off at 8:15 pm ET on Monday night from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
