The concerns about the knee of Miami Dolphins rookie running back De'Von Achane appear to have been justified.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Dolphins are placing the sensational rookie on injured reserve, which will put him out of action for at least the next four games.
The timing is tough, as Achane will be watching from the sideline as the Dolphins take on two of their toughest foes on the schedule in the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs over the next month. Achane has unquestionably been one of the biggest stories of the entire league this season, averaging over 12 yards per carry through five weeks. He deserved to showcase his electric skills before national and global audiences in those matchups.
However, the timing actually lines up well for Achane and the Dolphins, who basically get a bonus of five weeks of recovery time for the rookie instead of four with the bye week tacked on at the end of the four-game period.
Now Achane will have time to get right and be closer to 100% when the Dolphins begin their stretch run in late November.
Miami Dolphins have finally found their featured running back in De’Von Achane
The talented rookie should lead the Dolphins’ backfield moving forward
