The Miami Dolphins have their quarterback room set.  Well, at least for now.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Dolphins are releasing QB Mike White, which means that Skylar Thompson won the backup quarterback job behind Tua Tagovailoa.

It's a move that's hard to argue against.  White never really impressed in camp, and then did next do nothing during the preseason.

In three preseason games, White went 4/14 for 26 yards in the opener against Atlanta.  The following week he posted a line of 11/20 for 115 yards with 3 sacks against Washington.  In the finale against the Buccaneers on Friday, White went 5/9 for 37 yards, with a strip sack touchdown overturned on review.  He was unable to lead a single touchdown drive the entire preseason.

Thompson wasn't all that much better – that is until Friday against Tampa Bay.  The 2022 seventh rounder completed 19 of 27 passes for 190 yards with 2 touchdowns and an interception.  He had a couple of impressive throws on the run, including one for a touchdown.

It wouldn't be a shock for the team to bring in another QB who's cut.  It's honestly surprising they didn't bring in camp competition for the duo long ago.

However, for now, the Dolphins' 53-man roster will include just two quarterbacks in Tagovailoa and Thompson.  The rest of the 53-man roster will be finalized by 4:00 pm ET on Tuesday.
