The Miami Dolphins made some moves on Saturday ahead of their matchup with the Arizona Cardinals. One of them was a mere formality, but it was a very important one.
The Dolphins activated QB Tua Tagovailoa off of the injured reserve list on Saturday. They also released QB Tim Boyle and elevated DT Neil Farrell and LS Matt Overton off of the practice squad.
Tagovailoa's return off the injured list and the release of Boyle means that the Dolphins have three available quarterbacks at present, with CJ Beathard having been signed last week to go with Skylar Thompson, who's set to return from a rib injury and serve as the backup QB on Sunday. Tyler Huntley was added to the injured reserve list during the week.
The elevation of Farrell was a necessity after the injured suffered by Zach Sieler during practice on Thursday. Sieler suffered what's been reported to be a fractured orbital bone, with his timeline for recovery been deemed as week to week by head coach Mike McDaniel.
Farrell is in his third year, having been drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Over the last two seasons with the Raiders and Chiefs, he's appeared in 12 games (no starts) with 13 total tackles and 2 tackles for loss. He'll provide some much-needed depth for a position that already wasn't very deep to begin with.
The Dolphins and Cardinals get underway on Sunday at 1:00 pm from Hard Rock Stadium.
