Tua Tagovailoa has strong response to a common narrative about the Miami Dolphins ahead of clash with Green Bay Packers

There's no doubt the Miami Dolphins have a reputation firmly attached to their franchise. There's no doubt the Miami Dolphins have a reputation firmly attached to their franchise. Whether that's calling their players soft, can't win in cold weather, a finesse team and not a power one, etc., it's clear that fans, media, and even some other players alike don't think the Dolphins are all that tough.

And, well, there's pretty much no ammunition to fight those claims back with.  At least not yet.  That's who Miami has proven to be in three seasons under Mike McDaniel. Against better, more physical competition and in colder road environments, the Dolphins indeed have folded to a large degree.

However, with that being said, Tua Tagovailoa is ready to change that narrative, starting on Thursday night when the Dolphins take on the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.

"Yeah, I mean I’m excited to kill narratives," Tua said in response to a question about the playing at frigid Lambeau Field. "So let’s go. Bring it on."

In case you're wondering, the weather conditions on Thursday night in Green Bay are expected to be 22 degrees at kick off with a wind chill making it even colder.

The issue of the Dolphins being soft is one that came up earlier this month when former Dolphins safety DeShon Elliott called some of his former Miami teammates soft and not mentally tough.  That drew a number of responses from his former teammates as well as from Mike McDaniel, who was asked about it at his press conference.

Now, Tua and his teammates will have a golden opportunity to shed that belief about them.  It surely won't be easy, as the Packers sit at 8-3 and in playoff position after blowing out the San Francisco 49ers 38-10 on Sunday.

However, at least from Tua's words, it sounds like they're aware of the narrative and intend to do something about it.  We'll find out soon enough if they can.
