Miami Dolphins quarterback Skylar Thompson (19) carries the football in the second half of the game between host Miami Dolphins and the Houston Texans at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday, November 27, 2022, in Miami Gardens, FL. Final score, Miami Dolphins, 30, Houston Texans, 15.

While the Miami Dolphins (8-8) need to win their final game of the regular season, plus have the Buffalo Bills beat the New England Patriots, they can still make the AFC playoffs.

Unfortunately for the viewers, it will be a game that lacks fireworks. It will be Skylar Thompson vs Joe Flacco at quarterback. Which actually benefits the Dolphins in theory.

Numbers show that not only has Flacco struggled a lot in his last 10 starts, dating back to 2019, Thompson and the Dolphins offense are at a decided advantage.

The Jets are allowing the eighth-most rushing attempts, 14th-most yards and second-most rushing touchdowns to opposing quarterbacks.

A positive move for the Miami Dolphins offense, which will want to run the ball.

Rookie quarterbacks making a start as big as this will often hand the ball off and even keep it themselves more than air it out. Despite having players like Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle or Mike Gesicki to throw it to, Thompson's most dangerous attribute is his mobility.

Something the Jets show a lot of susceptibility to this season.

Hopefully Thompson's ability to move in and outside of the pocket, as well as find running lanes will often force safeties to play closer to the line of scrimmage. At that point, we may see Miami air it out.
