The Miami Dolphins are bringing back a pleasant surprise from 2023.
The team reached an agreement with free agent tackle Kendall Lamm on Tuesday, per multiple outlets.
Lamm was a big contributor last year for Miami. He appeared in 17 games last year with 8 starts, both of which were career highs. He ended up spelling starting left tackle Terron Armstead, who labored through most of the year with knee, ankle, and back issues. He ended up starting for the Dolphins against the Chargers, Patriots (twice), Giants, Panthers, Eagles, Cowboys, and Titans. He posted a respectable 64.1 offensive grade and 67.3 pass blocking grade in 615 total offensive snaps and 357 passing snaps last year.
An undrafted free agent in 2015 out of Appalachian State, Lamm joined the Dolphins practice squad in November 2022 after being released by Detroit at the end of the preseason that year. He was added to the active roster a month later. He ended up signing a one-year deal in March 2023 to stay in Miami.
Armstead, who announced his return earlier this offseason, has dealt with injuries throughout his career and struggled to stay healthy each season. However, Miami now has a very good insurance policy back in Lamm in case the former suffers another injury next fall.
