The Miami Dolphins (8-5) are still in the middle of contention for the AFC East. Despite a two-game losing streak, the Dolphins are firmly planted in the playoff race.
2022 has been a fruitful and flourishing season, with a handful of players receiving Pro Bowl votes. Some even leading in their respective positions.
However, the real prize is the All-Pro selections. While there can be anywhere from 6-8 players in the Pro Bowl at a given position, the All Pro is only for the top 2-3 in the league.
Instead of based on a wide variety of votes, the All-Pro's are way more selective in the process.
The Miami Dolphins have a number of players who are realistically up for this honor. WR Tyreek Hill, OT Terron Armstead, FB Alec Ingold and DB Jevon Holland are all getting plenty of buzz.
So is another player. Someone on the defensive side of the ball who likely wasn't in anyone's top 10 at the position going into 2022: DT Christian Wilkins.
Wilkins is currently sixth in tackles for loss (14) and second among all interior defensive tackles in run stop win rate (46%).
On the year, Wilkins is having a similar impact on the interior defensive line as players like Vita Vea or Jonathan Allen. What gives Wilkins the edge may be the clear impact he is having on the run defense.
The Dolphins having gone from 14th against the run to seventh. With Wilkins having the best defensive grade against the run among the Miami Dolphins starters.
With still four games to go, Wilkins will be among a number of qualified players for the honor. On first or second team.
If Wilkins continues to disrupt offensive lines and go higher up the leader boards on run defense, pass rush and tackles for loss, he will have All-Pro to bring with him to the negotiating table to talk contract extension.
