The offseason is ripe for rumors and theories to take off, and the Miami Dolphins are no exception to that trend.

In recent weeks, talk of trading Jaylen Waddle has taken off, which began with former Dolphins executive Mike Tannenbaum suggesting on ESPN that the Dolphins trade the talented wideout for Kansas City Chiefs CB Trent McDuffie.

That was met with a strongly-worded post from fellow Dolphin Tyreek Hill, who responded to the idea of trading Waddle as "ludicrous".

Well, you can count Dolphins general manager Chris Grier among those who are not interested in trading Waddle.  Grier said as much to the media on Wednesday at the combine in Indianapolis.

While acquiring a cornerback with the skills of McDuffie should certainly be on the Dolphins' to-do list, giving up a player of the caliber of Waddle to do it is not something the Dolphins would be willing to do.  Nor does it sound like it's a possibility for any other package.

Waddle has been nothing but productive in his three seasons in Miami.  Through three years, he's reached at least 72 catches and 1014 receiving yards each year with 18 total receiving touchdowns over that span.  His best statistical year came in 2022, when he posted 75 catches for 1356 yards and 8 receiving scores.  He had a career high 104 catches in 2023.

While the offense has run largely through Hill, Waddle has proven to be an indispensable part of it.  It appears he'll continue to be a key piece of the team in 2024.
