One wide receiver option in the 2026 NFL Draft seems to check all the boxes as a target for the Miami Dolphins
Miami’s wide receiver room could use a talent just like this one…
The departure of Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins’ wide receiver room means that we should expect to see Miami investing at pass catcher next month in the 2026 NFL Draft.
After bringing in quarterback Malik Willis in free agency, Miami has to give their new quarterback some higher ceiling targets to throw the ball to. And with seven top-100 picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Dolphins will have no shortage of swings of the bat. One player that they’re reportedly showing interest in could be the perfect fit to change things up in the room — Miami is hosting Georgia State WR Ted Hurst on a 30-visit.
Dolphins reportedly hosting Georgia State wide receiver Ted Hurst on a 30 visit
Hurst is a lot of things that Miami’s more recent wide receivers rooms has lacked. He’s a big target at 6-foot-4, 206 pounds. He pairs that with a massive catch radius and good vertical speed (4.42s 40-yard dash). Hurst, as you’d expect from a long-limbed receiver, isn’t the most twitchy, but he can glide when the stride length opens up and he illustrates an ability to run after the catch.
Hurst boasts a 61% conversion rate in contested catch situations across the last two seasons, too — on 54 opportunities.
He was considered a winner from the 2026 Senior Bowl for playing well against elevated competition, he helped his stock at the 2026 NFL Combine by weighing in significantly heavier than people expected (206 pounds) while sustaining low 4.4 speed. And now Miami finds themselves showing interest in his services.
Offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik was present in Houston in 2023 when 6-foot-4 wide receiver Nico Collins broke out as a legitimate top target for an NFL offense. Collins posted 70 catches for less than 950 yards and three touchdowns across his first two seasons in the NFL before Slowik and QB CJ Stroud helped him explode for 80 receptions, 1,297 yards, and 8 touchdowns in 2023. Collins was, conveniently, a third round draft choice out of Michigan despite his size and 4.45 speed.
In Green Bay, Jon-Eric Sullivan was apart of a Packers organization that stacked wide receivers relentlessly, including a height/weight/speed target in Christian Watson from North Dakota State. Watson was 6-foot-4, 208 pounds, and ran a 4.36s 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine before being drafted on Day 2 of the 2022 NFL Draft by Green Bay.
Keep an eye on Hurst. He seems to check a lot of boxes that helped others to success around key figures who now call Miami ‘home’ in 2026.
