Terron Armstead shares that Tyreek Hill called and gave a unique explanation for why he was laughing after gruesome knee injury
Armstead said the Cheetah explained his interesting reaction while leaving the field.
The Miami Dolphins suffered a monumental loss on ‘Monday Night Football’ despite beating the New York Jets 27-21 to pick up their first win of the season. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered what head coach Mike McDaniel said after the game is a dislocated knee during the first drive of the second half.
With Miami up 10-0 and having recovered a fumble by the Jets on the kickoff, Hill reached out for a ball near the sideline. He was tackled and rolled up by Jets safety Malachi Moore. Hill stayed on the ground with his left leg below the knee in an unnatural and sickening position.
However, after being placed on the cart and being greeted by his teammates, Hill was shown smiling, laughing, and waving to the crowd as the cart left the field.
Former Dolphins teammate Terron Armstead, who retired during the offseason, says he received a FaceTime call and an explanation from Hill afterward.
Former Dolphins left tackle Terron Armstead says Tyreek Hill FaceTimed him and told him why he reacted the way he did
It’s hard for anyone not in that position to imagine what that would feel like, so his response to the moment per Armstead is understandable. Our own Rob Gregson was actually in attendance at the game, and he had some insight and thoughts as far as the reaction inside the stadium and the injury itself.
“There is no doubt that the play on which Tyreek Hill was injured was one of the most gruesome you will ever see. When he made the catch out of bounds, everyone was celebrating, but the Jumbotron stayed on Hill. Quickly, there were screams and shouts throughout the stadium as everyone realized what happened to his leg. The stadium immediately went very silent, and everyone was shocked to see Hill‘s reaction, especially with his teammates, as he was laughing and clapping after such a horrific injury. He was off to an incredible start in that game, and he was a catalyst for the resurgence in the offense the last two weeks.
“It is obviously very unclear as to what happens going forward, but the loss of a player who is still at the top of his game will ripple throughout the Dolphins organization.” – Rob Gregson, A to Z Pittsburgh.
We’ll find out more as the week goes along as far as the severity of the damage to his knee and what the next steps are for Hill are as he begins what appears be a long road to recovery.
