The buzz around one 2026 NFL Draft prospect as a target for the Dolphins isn’t going to get any quieter after Monday
An unexpected development should only further fuel the hype.
You won’t find a more popular mock draft pairing right now than the Miami Dolphins and LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane.
The LSU defender is projected to be a top pick after dominating in his lone season with the Tigers. Delane was already an established early draft pick before his 2025 season — he was a standout at Virginia Tech before hitting the transfer portal. But his latest season was “lockdown”, and Miami could certainly use some of that in the 2026 NFL Draft. Delane had one last ace up his sleeve before the 2026 NFL Draft, which he broke out on Monday. And now he feels like an even hotter name for the Dolphins.
LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane blazes at LSU Pro Day, will surely continue to be a hot name for the Dolphins in 2026 mock drafts
Oh.
Alright then, Mansoor! Delane was already perceived to be the hottest cornerback in this year’s draft and has been a staple of mock draft projections to the Dolphins for months. Understandably so, given that the Dolphins have a defensive-minded coach and a whole bunch of unproven players in the secondary.
But this run and time for Delane is unexpectedly good. It’s going to put even more juice on Delane as a top-12 prospect in this year’s class. Perhaps even too much to keep him in Miami’s range at No. 11 overall in the order. If we end up seeing Delane’s stock soar into the top-10, the domino effect for Miami will be to push someone else down into the Dolphins’ laps. Perhaps it’s a good thing. Perhaps his stock won’t move at all and we’ll continue to see Delane relentlessly mocked to the Dolphins. One thing is for certain: A 4.35s 40-time for him is the cherry on top to a phenomenal 2025 campaign.
