The Miami Dolphins return from a long layoff to retake the field today, hosting the New Orleans Saints in a matchup of below .500 teams that feel like they’re headed in different directions. The Dolphins enter today’s game out of the bye having won three of their last four. New Orleans? They’ve lose five of their last six. Miami hopes to give their fans something to cheer about as we wrap up the month of November by continuing the trend.
But the Dolphins recently did announce something else that will surely give fans something to cheer about — an early holiday gift that has been on everyone’s wish list all year long.
Dolphins to wear throwback uniforms, honor heritage against the Bengals in Week 16
“Before the game, we’ll toast to our Founding Members from the 1966 inaugural season, celebrating the fans who started this incredible tradition of loyalty. During the game, we will honor some of the greatest players from each decade of Dolphins football. The team will also take the field in our iconic aqua team uniforms, paying homage to our roots.”
The challenge for the Dolphins between now and the game against Cincinnati on December 21st is to make the game relevant in the NFL landscape. Miami is chasing a chance to climb back to .500 on the season and could do so before going into the Cincinnati game by winning their next three contests against the Saints today, the New York Jets next week, and the Pittsburgh Steelers after that.
Miami’s throwback uniforms have staunch supporters far and wide across the fanbase. The chance to wear them this season is a nice surprise in a year in which it appeared as though Miami was simply content to debut their new Nike Rivalries kit and call it a day. An early gift for the holidays is always a welcomed surprise — now Miami must do their part to make it special.
