The Dolphins have reportedly made a decision on the first massive domino of their 2026 offseason
The first decision reportedly revolves around Dolphins pass rusher Bradley Chubb.
The Miami Dolphins‘ busy offseason is just getting started.
But according to multiple reports, the kickoff is apparently getting underway. Miami, which is facing a series of cap and cash cuts while further leaning into a youth movement under new management, has several veterans who could be on the chopping block. We now know, with insider Jordan Schultz reporting first, that the axe has dropped on pass rusher Bradley Chubb.
Report: Dolphins to part ways with pass rusher Bradley Chubb
Chubb came to Miami in 2022 as a part of a blockbuster trade deadline deal with the Denver Broncos. In 41 career games in Miami, Chubb posted 22.0 sacks and was a major leader for the Dolphins defense. Chubb’s tenure in Miami was marred by a late season injury in 2023 that cost Miami dearly in their Wild Card loss to the Chiefs — but then also cost Chubb the entirety of the 2024 season as he recovered.
The two sides agreed on a contract adjustment to keep him in-house for the 2025 season and Chubb promptly led the team in pressures amid a triumphant return to the field. Chubb pushed about half of his 2025 salary into incentive money — which he narrowly missed out on despite logging 8.5 sacks because the team did not achieve a scoring ranking high enough to qualify.
Despite the sack production, Chubb’s play looked to miss the burst and explosiveness that made him a top draft choice back in 2018. Chubb, who will turn 30 years old in June, was on the books for a salary cap charge north of $31 million this season and he was owed $20.23 million in compensation. The intersection of his career path and the Dolphins needs were no longer aligned. And that is why, midway through February, this news is coming out.
