The Miami Dolphins’ path to the playoffs just became much more treacherous following Sunday’s loss to the New England Patriots.

Not only did the Dolphins lose the game, but it appears as if they lost back-up quarterback Teddy Bridgewater in the process. It is being reported that Bridgewater broke a finger on his throwing hand.

That is not an injury Bridgewater will be able to tough out for the team’s regulars season finale against the New York Jets. Not only must the Dolphins win, but they’ll need help from the Buffalo Bills in order to sneak into the playoff picture.

With Bridgewater likely heading to the shelf and Tua Tagovailoa at least one week away from a return, Miami will turn to Skylar Thompson to start in Week 18. Thompson finished the game against New England on Sunday 12/21 with 104 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Thompson has has just one start in his rookie campaign, which came in a Week 6 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Miami will be forced to lean on its defense and rushing attack in order to down the Jets, who were eliminated from postseason contention on Sunday.
