Not that it was ever a question to begin with, but the Miami Dolphins' decision to trade for Tyreek Hill could go down as one of the franchise’s best moves in its history.

In a primetime matchup on Sunday Night Football against the Los Angeles Chargers, Hill rewrote Miami’s record books. Needing just 11 yards heading into the game in order to snap Mark Clayton’s single-season record for receiving yards, Hill surpassed the Dolphins’ legend in the first quarter.

Most receiving yards in a single season in Miami Dolphins history:

  1. Tyreek Hill: 1,391 *at time of post (2022)
  2. Mark Clayton: 1,389 (1984)
  3. Mark Duper: 1,313 (1986)

It’s just the latest reminder that Dolphins general manager Chris Grier hit it out of the park by trading for Hill. Hill is already providing a massive return on Miami’s investment via a a four-year extension worth $120 million after sending draft capital to the Kansas City Chiefs in the trade.

Hill has completely changed the dynamic of this Dolphins offense and has the team positioned to make a deep run in the postseason.
