Part of the reason the Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday — aside from Mitch Trubisky's three interceptions — was because they couldn't stop Baltimore from picking up a first down on the ground in the game's final minutes.
Everyone in the stadium knew that Baltimore was going to run the ball to force the Steelers to use their timeouts.
And Pittsburgh still couldn't stop them.
After the game, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters that the defense was "wore down".
Pittsburgh edge rusher TJ Watt, one of the best players in the NFL, had a different take.
Watt didn't think the Steelers defense was worn down. Instead, he felt like Pittsburgh just didn't execute well.
If you're a Steelers fan, I think you've gotta hope that Tomlin's take is the correct one. Because if Pittsburgh can't stop a couple of runs when they know exactly what play is coming, then this team has some issues that are even worse than we realized.
It'll be interesting to see what's said this week, but it's certainly not encouraging to hear the head coach and one of the league's best players disagreeing after another brutal loss.
