After the Minnesota Vikings let former Defensive Coordinator Ed Donatell go, a highly active search for the next DC began. A search that is attracting some of the most sought-after names in the coaching circuit.

The preferred name on the list is Denver Broncos' DC Ejiro Evero. However, the Broncos have not yet given Evero permission to interview. Still under contract, Evero would need to be allowed to see other franchises for opportunities.

It looks as if new HC Sean Payton may prefer to keep the Broncos' current DC.

This is seemingly causing a ripple effect as Seattle Seahawks associate HC Sean Desai is removing his name for consideration of the position.

With Evero likely not coming to Minnesota, and Desai opting out, the remaining of the 'top choices' is Pittsburgh Steelers Brian Flores. Flores is a hot commodity in the current coaching carousel and is getting interviews in a number of places.

Should the Minnesota Vikings miss out on Flores as well, they would seemingly have to start from scratch in their DC search.

Now that Sean Desai is off their radar, it only leaves the other two as possible remaining options, though it is starting to dwindle.

The Vikings may end up being forced to look for the next round of 'best available' candidates should all of their top three coach elsewhere.
