On Thursday afternoon, Minnesota Vikings edge rusher Dallas Turner spoke to the media about his body weight sack on Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, which is when he informed us that he was fined for the play.

“I already did get fined,” said Turner. “So you know that got appealed. However, we live and learn. You know, each week. It’s still a growing week, it’s learning from experience. So, learning from putting good stuff out there, it’s still a steady grind. But you know, we’re still trying to reach and scratch and, you know, to get the top.”

Vikings EDGE Dallas Turner fined twice vs. Ravens

It wasn’t the only time he was fined, as the NFL levied two fines against Turner, both for $17,389: one for the sack on Jackson and the other for a hip drop tackle on the opening kickoff.

Turner already informed the media that he was appealing the fines, but it doesn’t look to be something that will land in his favor. Both look like textbook instances of what he’s being fined for. Should either of them be fines to begin with? That’s a completely different discussion, but these are unfortunately good fines based on the letter of the law.

These aren’t the first fines for Turner this year, either. He was fined for a hit on Los Angeles Chargers Justin Herbert for launching himself headfirst and making helmet-to-helmet contact.

These fines are starting to add up, as Turner only has a base salary this season of $960,000 and total cash of $1,511,676. His game checks are only $56,470.59, which the fine is over 60% of his pay for Sunday. Overall, he has incurred fines of $54,685.

We may not know if Turner will win his appeal on said fines, but he’s going to be fighting them. Either way, he’s going to need to work on his game to not get fined in the first place.
