Welcome to SKOL Search 2025!
This is the fifth year I have done SKOL Search with the sole mission being to find NFL Draft prospects for the Minnesota Vikings. Throughout the entire process, this will be the most comprehensive draft guide with a focus on the Vikings.
Each year, I scout incoming draft prospects from a neutral perspective and try to see how they could fit with Minnesota. This will be general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah's fourth NFL Draft and we have a good sense of what he likes in a prospect.
Going into the offseason, the Vikings have just three official selections with a fourth likely coming with a compensatory selection in the third round. However they choose to use them, they need to make the most out of their limited resources.
Shavon Revel Jr.
- East Carolina
- Height: 6030
- Weight: 193
- Class: Fifth-year Senior
- Recruiting info: 3-star JUCO recruit in 2022 class per 247 Sports
- Stats: 70 tackles (37 solo), 5.0 TFLs, 1.0 sacks, 3 interceptions, 15 passes defended, 1 fumble recovery, 2 touchdowns
- Games watched: Michigan 2023, Old Dominion 2024, App State 2024
Strengths
- Size/length: Revel has great size and length to thrive in any scheme on the outside. Having that length allows in to get his hands on the receiver at the line of scrimmage.
- Ball skills: Revel has excellent ball skills and he pairs it with a really good recovery ability. Through three years at East Carolina, Revel has three interceptions and 12 passes broken up on just 65 targets
- Versatility: Revel has the ability to play in just about any scheme. He's more than comfortable in a backpedal as well as staying in-phase with the receiver.
- Tackling: Revel has just four missed tackles in his career. He isn't afraid to get down and dirty in the running game and is comfortable making a tackle in the open field.
I’m a fan of Shavon Revel Jr. The length and ball skills are very impressive

Weaknesses
- Injury: Revel suffered a torn ACL during practice at the end of September and missed the rest of the season. There is a chance that he doesn't test and Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has already missed on one talented, but injured cornerback in Andrew Booth Jr.
- Level of competition: Playing at East Carolina, Revel hasn't played a lot of great competition. He did play against Michigan in 2023, a game they lost 30-3. It was the only time he played a Power-4 team.

Revel is a legit prospect. He honestly looks like the prototype for Pete Carroll in the Legion of Boom era. He's got an incredible amount of length with plus athleticism and ball skills to make an impact consistently.
His versatility being someone who can play in both man and zone coverage is something that Brian Flores can thrive with. That kind of flexibility is huge for how Flores likes to play defense, especially with his willingness to tackle and play the run. It would be great to put him on the outside in this defense and thrive.
