The Minnesota Vikings made a surprising move to waive quarterback Jaren Hall in favor of veteran Brett Rypien. The move was made because they didn't want to experience the quarterback issues they went through last year.

"That move was really indicative of, knowing what we went through last year, and having the opportunity to have a couple of veteran guys behind Sam with comfort in the system."

Jaren Hall signs with NFC West rival Seattle Seahawks

After waiving Hall last week, the Vikings saw their 2023 fifth-round pick Hall sign with the Seattle Seahawks practice squad. The move itself shouldn't be too much of a surprise, as ESPN's Brady Henderson hinted at the move last week.

The Vikings reportedly did try to bring Hall back into the fold, but he decided to go out west for a fresh start. It will help him initially that the front office liked him a lot during the pre-draft process.

As for the Vikings, it's a shame that they lost Hall. He was progressing really well and had the potential to be a backup quarterback for the rest of his rookie contract. That would have given the Vikings some nice salary cap flexibility.

As things currently sit, the Vikings quarterback room is loaded with veterans behind Sam Darnold and that could be a major benefit for the success of the 2024 season.
