The Minnesota Vikings are working hard toward building a loaded roster for a Super Bowl run. General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah did a fantastic job fortifying the roster in free agency. The only big question remaining is at the quarterback position.
It should be rather simple: give the ball to 10th overall draft pick from last year's NFL Draft in J.J. McCarthy. However, the presence of Aaron Rodgers has clouded that discussion. They did talk with him about potentially being the guy, but both sides chose not to move forward.

The Vikings are still likely to move forward with McCarthy, even though Rodgers is still a free agent. Is it the right decision? It's hard to give a full answer right now until we see both play this season, assuming that Rodgers does sign with another team.
It hasn't stopped the conversation about McCarthy. Head coach Kevin O'Connell spoke about him at length with local reporters on Monday, and McCarthy's former college head coach at Michigan, Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh, was asked about him. He didn't just speak highly about him, but raved about his former quarterback.
"It’s a great situation, and I just know J.J. He’s going to be every day. Daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, he’ll get in there, and he’ll attack. He’s an elite competitor and a highly talented individual. I know we’re going to have to play against him. That’s probably the second thought. I know what it’s going to look like.”
It's not a surprise that Harbaugh raved about McCarthy here. He spoke ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft that McCarthy was the best quarterback. There were even some rumors about potentially trading Justin Herbert to be able to select McCarthy in the NFL Draft.
If Harbaugh continues to speak this highly about McCarthy, that should ease the fanbase's concerns about what he can be at the next level.
