Multiple Vikings injuries to wide receiver occur during scrimmage, and pursuing a trade couldn’t come at a better time
A couple of injuries highlighted the reason why the Vikings are pursuing trades
Wide receiver depth was already in a tough spot for the Minnesota Vikings going into practice on Wednesday, as their scrimmage didn’t end in the best of terms.
During the scrimmage, the Vikings saw wide receivers Jordan Addison and Tai Felton leave the field with hand/wrist injuries.
Jordan Addison and Tai Felton suffer injuries in practice
It’s bad enough that both players suffered injuries, but having both of them suffer injuries to their hands is brutal for a wide receiver. Luckily, both players seem to be fine, but it will be worth keeping an eye on.
For Addison, his injury potentially lingering wouldn’t be as big a deal, because he’s going to have nearly six weeks to heal up before he can return on September 28th against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dublin, Ireland. It’s still not great to see him potentially sidelined, especially since he can return to the facility after the Vikings’ week one game against the Chicago Bears.
Felton would be more of a concern, as he’s set to be a pivotal depth player and special teams weapon both as a returner and a gunner. If it ends up being a long-term injury, that could be a big issue.
This could seriously amplify the Vikings’ need for a wide receiver, as they have already started to make calls about acquiring one. Seeing both players go down could be a major signal that they really do need to make this a priority for the start of the season.
