The biggest storyline heading into free agency is centered around the Minnesota Vikings quarterback situation. Sam Darnold is set to be a free agent and likely will not get the franchise tag. They do have J.J. McCarthy who will be ready to go this offseason to take over if they do choose to move on from Darnold.

How the Vikings handle the situation is going to be the biggest domino to fall across the National Football League. It's been the biggest talking point this entire offseason and we have gotten some good quotes from players on the subject.

Justin Jefferson remains consistent about future at quarterback

The best player on the Minnesota Vikings is wide receiver Justin Jefferson. His opinion on things in the organization matters more than just about everyone else in the locker room due to his gravitas.

He's spoken multiple times on the quarterback situation with the latest coming on Monday's edition of The Pat McAfee Show.

"Yeah, that's a great question. I'm not sure who the quarterback is going to be. And just like I said last year, you know, it truly doesn't matter personally to me. You know, it doesn't matter who's going to throw me that ball. I'm going to make the most of my opportunities. I'm going to try to make him look the best quarterback in the whole NFL. Just, you know, making the contested catches, making those catches that look difficult be easy. So just having that confidence in me and just, you know, creating that connection with the quarterback, no matter who the quarterback is going to be. That's the main part."

Jefferson seems to be parroting the party line so-to-speak here. He's saying what you want your superstar wide receiver to say because it doesn't create waves. However, it's not PR speak when it comes to Jefferson, he means it.

This was what he said all throughout last offseason and into the summer and he also said as such when doing media at the Super Bowl.

"Luckily, that ain't my decision," Jefferson said. "I'm sitting back, and I'm waiting for all of these decisions to be made. I'm really just showing up and being myself and making the plays that I make. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what we're going to do with Sam, if we're going to bring him back. Of course, J.J. is going to have his opportunity to make some plays and to see if he's going to be the starter.

"I'm not sure exactly what we're going to do with Sam and the moves that we're going to make, but I'm always confident in myself. It don't matter who's going to be throwing the ball. I'm going to make a play for sure."

It's good that Jefferson is fully on board with what the Vikings are trying to do, but it's more important that the message is consistent.
