Justin Jefferson eases any doubt with Vikings future, and continues to prove why he’s different from everyone in the NFL

Everyone seem to want to talk about Justin Jefferson playing anywhere but Minnesota, but none of that comes from him.

There are three certainties in life: death, taxes, the media trying to create drama with Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson.

Over the weekend, Jefferson did an interview talking with USA Today and mentioned they would have had more success if Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold had stayed with the Vikings this season.

“Everyone knows the difficulty of the quarterback position this year, how we were dealt it,” Jefferson answered. “But having a quarterback that already had a season under his belt with us, knew the plays, knew the playbook, knew the players, throwing to me, Jordan AddisonT.J. Hockenson, all these guys, I definitely feel like we would have done better. But it is what it is, it’s on to newer and better things. But I’m definitely happy and proud of him that he is able to reach it this year.”

Justin Jefferson shuts down any potential offseason drama

We saw another article surface, this one from Sports Illustrated talking about a potential Jefferson trade, simply citing “rumblings” and not any concrete sourcing.

“There have been rumblings that superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson is unhappy with the Minnesota Vikings,” the article explained.

We’ve been down this road before with Jefferson. It felt like everyone in the national media was trying to manufacture drama to get him traded to another team. The Vikings continued to show zero interest in moving Jefferson, and head coach Kevin O’Connell said it was never discussed.

“There’s a certain way that we kind of do business,” O’Connell said. “When you hear certain things — a lot of things come and go — and you kind of chalk it up to what they are. But when there’s things that are so far outside the realm of what’s actually happening and taking place, you find yourself wanting to come out and say, which I will unequivocally: We never, ever, one time, discussed it internally among the leadership.

“Some people have sources far and wide, but among the leadership, among the decision-makers, the people that are directly involved in the situation, there really was not one time that was ever discussed, game-planned [or] contingency planned. And I think that’s really important, because it’s not just about the result today, it’s about the process of which we’re pretty proud of.”

Jefferson is at Super Bowl’s radio row doing interviews and made an appearance on the Up and Adams show with Kay Adams, and he made things very clear.

“That’s not my decision,” Jefferson said. “I don’t care who’s throwing me that ball. That’s not my main priority… that person that’s throwing that ball needs to throw that ball, and lead us to into that big dance at the end of the season. Right now, J.J. is my QB. For me, it’s to get him to where we need to go, it starts off right now.”

The one thing with Jefferson throughout his career has been the consistency with his message. He doesn’t care who the quarterback is, and never really has. He wants to elevate that player to help the team in any way possible.

Jefferson has never been the kind of player to create drama, and it’s not starting today.
