The Minnesota Vikings have suffered a major scare during their game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
In the second quarter, Jefferson suffered a chest injury after taking a hit from Raiders safety Marcus Epps. He was taken out of the game, originally going into the blue medical tent, but was soon taken into the locker room.
Jefferson was marked as questionable to return, but was officially ruled out.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that Jefferson is being transported to a local hospital for precaution.
He finished his first game back from injured reserve with two receptions for 27 yards. The receiver has been sidelined for seven games due to a hamstring injury.
Jefferson took his time coming back from injured reserve, focusing on his health. He even sent a message to people trying to rush him back.
So far this season, he has 36 receptions for 571 yards and three touchdowns in five games this season.
This is bad news for the Vikings who just got their star receiver back. But the force of that hit could knock him out for even longer.
Considering all the injuries and changes the offense has faced this season, losing Jefferson once again would be another harsh hit to the Vikings.
