Kevin O'Connell worked out with Joe Flacco at the Combine

With the Vikings set to face Joe Flacco and the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, head coach Kevin O'Connell shared his perspective on when he was in the same group at the combine with Flacco.

"Yeah, I just remember standing with Matt Ryan, who wasn't going to throw in the second group. We had just kind of gotten down running our 40s, and Matt probably didn't even do that, actually, but I was standing there and I saw Joe throw a couple of those go balls. And, you know, I started thinking, am I good enough to maybe not throw, you know, because that guy can flat out spin it, throws it all over the yard. He's a mountain of a man, and can see the whole field, and has seen everything now, throughout his career. Done so many high, high-level things I got so much respect for, has accomplished this league and always been a fan of his, and just wasn't that day at the combine for what he was going to make me look like a few minutes later. But yeah, Joe's going to be a challenge. You know he's going to be a challenge. We have to be dialed in as you make a mistake against the quarterback of his caliber, both mentally and then his ability to truly touch every blade of grass on the field with the ball. You got to be dialed in."

It's not often that you see a head coach face off against a quarterback that he worked out with at the combine, but with head coaches being hired younger and younger, it was bound to happen one of these years.

Flacco has played well over the last two seasons and a rhythm passing game is one way to beat the Vikings' defense. When O'Connell said "you need to be dialed in," he meant it.
