The Minnesota Vikings had been preparing for the worst-case scenario with Kirk Cousins. Unfortunately, that scenario was confirmed on Monday.

An MRI confirmed that Cousins tore his right Achilles tendon, ending his season and possibly his career in Minnesota.

Cousins was carted off in the 4th quarter yesterday, and it immediately didn't look good. It was a non-contact injury, which always conjures up images of an ACL or Achilles tear.

Unfortunately, the latter is what Cousins has. The veteran QB had not missed a game due to injury in his six years in the Twin Cities, and this is a brutal way for that streak to end.

Making the situation even worse is Cousins' contract situation. It appears likely the QB will play elsewhere next season if he's healthy after failing to come to an agreement with the team during the offseason. Thus, we could have seen Cousins play his final snap as a Minnesota Viking on Sunday.

Cousins was having a fantastic season thus far, too. The QB had thrown for 2,331 yards with 18 TDs and 5 INT before the injury.

On Sunday, we identified 3 QBs the Vikes could trade for and 3 the team could add via free agency
