In the 2022 season, the Minnesota Vikings unveiled their first-ever Winter Whiteout. It involved all-white uniforms, a white-inspired logo at midfield and a white endzone with purple font. The game happened on Christmas Eve against the New York Giants and happened the next season against the Detroit Lions on the same day.
It's become a tradition for the Vikings that will continue in 2024. They even unveiled a special iced-out jersey dubbed the Winter Warrior, including a white helmet.
The nuanced specifics of the jersey are incredibly detailed from top to bottom. It's an incredibly done jersey with the first-ever white helmet, something that Vikings fans clamored for.
Unfortunately, the National Football League is a copycat league and that is exactly what the Green Bay Packers announced on Thursday. Not only did they copy the Vikings in having a white helmet, but they are having a Winter Warning whiteout on October 20th against the Houston Texans.
The Packers in all-white after 100 seasons feels unnatural, as does having a winter-themed game when there won't be snow on the ground. Well, a near certainty there won't be snow at least. You can't be 100% certain about anything in regard to weather when you live in the Midwest
Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery and that is exactly what the Packers are doing to the Vikings.
