The Minnesota Vikings traded for Cam Akers on Wednesday. The running back figures to come right in and contribute alongside Alexander Mattison.

The Vikings rushing attack has been almost non-existent to this point, but the passing offense has been good. Justin Jefferson is one of the best receivers in the league and rookie Jordan Addison is coming along nicely.

Unfortunately, one receiver had to lose his roster spot due to the addition of Akers.

Jalen Nailor has been placed on the injured reserve list after Akers passed his physical with the team. Nailor had been dealing with a hamstring injury and will now miss at least the next four games.

Nailor has been active for both of Minnesota's games, but has not been featured on offense. The receiver has seen the field on special teams and has one tackle. In 2022, however, Nailor showed up as a deep threat, collecting 9 catches for 179 yards and one TD.

Without Nailor, the Vikes only have four receivers on the roster: Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, KJ Osborn, and Brandon Powell. The team now has four running backs: Alexander Mattison, Cam Akers, Myles Gaskin, and Ty Chandler.

The Vikings are also carrying four tight ends on the roster for now, but Nick Muse has been inactive for both games. It is a possibility that the Vikings waive Muse to bring in another receiver, but the team could also ride out Nailor's absence. The team uses two tight end sets much more than three receiver sets, however, so Muse could stick on the main roster.
