The Vikings recently agreed to terms with a former Denver Broncos offensive lineman.
No, not that former Bronco, but a former Bronco nonetheless. Per NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the team reached an agreement with Christian DiLauro.
After news of the Dalton Risner visit, many Viking fans were anticipating a new starter on the line. For one reason or another, the team did not agree to a deal with Risner, at least not at this time.
While DiLauro is not likely a starting-caliber player, he will provide another tackle option for the team. DiLauro is also a former Bronco who has played in just 15 regular season snaps.
This signing further solidifies the Denver-to-Minnesota pipeline on the offensive line. Chris Kuper and Justin Rascati, Minnesota's offensive line coach and assistant offensive line coach both came over from Denver.
To make room for DiLauro, the team parted ways with fellow tackle Sam Schlueter. Schlueter was a nice story as a Minnesota native and former Golden Gopher. Apparently Schlueter is dealing with a non-football illness and will look to latch on elsewhere when healthy.
DiLauro joins Blake Brandel, Vederian Lowe, and Jacky Chen as backup tackles battling for a roster spot. DiLauro will be looking to make an opening day roster for the first time in his career after bouncing around on practice squads.
Vikings reportedly visiting with experienced offensive lineman
The Vikings are bringing in a veteran with plenty of starting experience.
