The Minnesota Vikings have lost several Pro Bowl-caliber players this offseason. Unfortunately, another name may soon be added to that list.

The Danielle Hunter saga is nothing new. The veteran has made his unhappiness known, and it appears the two sides are at an impasse.

One Vikings reporter thinks the saga will end with Hunter wearing a different uniform.

Alec Lewis of The Athletic recently published his prediction for the Vikings' final roster.

Notably, Hunter was not included in the defensive line/edge section. Lewis had the following to say regarding Hunter:

I can anticipate your question: Where in the world is Danielle Hunter? Glad you asked. As we outlined last week, the situation is sticky. Hunter is seeking a long-term deal, and the Vikings have lately preferred not to pay players long into the future. Something has to give, whether it’s the two sides’ agreeing to an extension, a trade for some draft capital or Hunter’s holding out. Hunter’s camp seems unlikely to move off its wants, which explains my decision to leave him off the roster.

As Lewis noted, it seems very unlikely for the two sides to work out an extension. The Vikings have undergone a youth movement this offseason and Hunter will soon have his 29th birthday. While Hunter likely still has multiple quality seasons left, the team likely prefers that younger players get those snaps.

Without Hunter, the Vikings could be looking at Marcus Davenport and DJ Wonnum as the starting edge rushers. Rookie UDFA Andre Carter II has earned praise from coaches this summer and should see plenty of snaps this season as well.

Notably, Lewis has veterans Jonathan Bullard, Sheldon Day, Ross Blacklock, and James Lynch missing the cut as well.
