Fans of the Minnesota Vikings have not had much to be excited about this offseason. After seeing several quality veterans like Dalvin Cook, Adam Thielen, and Za'Darius Smith leave, it's understandable if fans aren't thrilled.
However, the team did give the fans something cool to look forward to on Tuesday.
The team unveiled a new look that will be worn for the Week 1 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"Inspired by the 1960s and 70s, the throwback pays homage to the team's earlier voyages with a deeper purple and larger, gold-trimmed numbers than the modern jersey, as well as retro sleeve stripes," the team announced.
The classic horn logo on the helmet will be adjusted to match the throwback aesthetic. Additionally, the face mask will be gray.
The uniform is similar to the one worn by Fran Tarkenton in the 60's and 70's. The Vikings went to four Super Bowls in the 70's, so perhaps the team is trying to capture some of that magic.
If you're a fan of the look, you'll be happy to learn that the team is not ruling out wearing the uniforms more than once. "The team will have the option to wear the uniforms each season moving forward," explained the team website.
