The Minnesota Vikings have unveiled an unofficial depth chart ahead of the Week 1 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
While the depth chart is "unofficial," there is still much that can be taken away from this. While much of the order is what we expected it to be, there are a few surprises.
Let's go over the takeaways from this depth chart.
Minnesota Vikings Week 1 Depth Chart Reactions:
Myles Gaskin initially behind Ty Chandler

This is probably not a surprise considering Gaskin has only been a Viking for a week. However, Gaskin has started before and is more proven than Chandler. The Vikings were not thrilled with the performance of the backup RBs this summer, so I thought there was a chance for Gaskin to be RB2.
I still think that will be the case eventually. Gaskin is the best pass-catching option in the backfield for the Vikes. Chandler gets the RB2 role for now due to his familiarity, but I bet Gaskin ends the season with more offensive snaps.
KJ Osborn holds off Jordan Addison

Osborn is listed as the starter opposite Justin Jefferson. The Vikes’ staff loves Osborn and he has proven to be a reliable weapon. Due to the team keeping a fullback and three tight ends that are solid, I expect the team to have just two receivers on the field for most snaps.
This doesn't mean Addison won't get in, in fact, he will likely see a similar amount of snaps to Osborn. However, the coaching staff is showing that Osborn has done nothing to lose his spot thus far. Many expected the rookie first-rounder to be an immediate starter, but it seems the team prefers to bring Addison along slowly.
