The Minnesota Vikings are coming out of the bye week with a lot of injuries, but they are getting healthier. Head coach Kevin O’Connell gave us an update on Monday during his press conference, with the big news being that inside linebacker Blake Cashman will have his practice window activated ahead of Monday’s practice. He initially injured his hamstring in the Week 1 win over the Chicago Bears.

“Blake Cashman’s window will open up today,” said O’Connell. “We’ll go out for some on-field work today to kind of get the week kicked off. But it will be great to get Cash[man] back on the practice field, opening that window up, and he’s done a heck of a job getting himself ready to go and give him the week of preparation and see where he’s at towards the tail end of the week.”

It’s going to be huge getting Cashman back in the fold. He’s arguably the catalyst behind the success of Brian Flores’ defense. He can make up for the aggressiveness that Ivan Pace Jr. has by filling his gap responsibility, and the versatility in playing against the pass.

His return is going to be huge for the Vikings, but it’s not going to be the only one.

“And we will also have Donovan Jackson, Michael Jurgens, Brian O’Neill, and JJ McCarthy, taking part in the work today, as well as throughout the week in different capacities,” said O’Connell.

The Vikings are getting significantly healthier across the board and it’s going to make a major impact on getting a win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon. It’s important to note that the Vikings don’t know for sure if each player will play on Sunday, but returning to practice is the first step.
