One of the best players in Minnesota Vikings' franchise history is returning for a 13th season with the team.

NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero reported that safety Harrison Smith has agreed to a restructured contract with Minnesota on Wednesday. Smith mauled over retirement after the conclusion of the 2023 season but has decided to stay around for at least one more year.

The 35-year-old veteran is a six-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro. A former first-round pick in 2012, Harrison has 34 career interceptions and over 1,000 total tackles. 2023 was just the second season of his career that he didn't record an interception, but he tied a career-high in sacks with three.

Smith is taking a pay cut of $5.45 million to stay with the Vikings. He took a pay cut of $6.7 million to stay with the team in 2023. Clearly Smith still has a passion to play the game as he chases after his first Super Bowl ring. He has been a part of only two postseason wins during his illustrious career.
