Minnesota Vikings second Week 5 injury report is getting worse
Things aren’t getting better on the injury front
Things aren’t getting much better for the Minnesota Vikings ahead of Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns.
Injuries are the biggest issue with the Vikings right now, and the report isn’t getting better on Thursday. In fact, one starter on defense was added.
Minnesota Vikings Thursday injury report
| Player | Injury | W/T/F | Designation |
| EDGE Tyler Batty | Knee | Full/Full | |
| FB C.J. Ham | Knee | Full/Full | |
| RB Zavier Scott | Knee | DNP/Full | |
| LT Christian Darrisaw | Not Injury Related-Rest | DNP/DNP | |
| TE Ben Yurosek | Knee | DNP/DNP | |
| EDGE Andrew Van Ginkel | Neck | DNP/DNP | |
| QB J.J. McCarthy | Ankle | DNP/DNP | |
| OG Donovan Jackson | Wrist | DNP/DNP | |
| C Michael Jurgens | Knee | DNP/DNP | |
| C Ryan Kelly | Concussion | DNP/DNP | |
| RT Brian O’Neill | Knee | DNP/DNP | |
| EDGE Dallas Turner | Illness | None/DNP |
Observations
- Darrisaw got his rest day on Wednesday after playing every offensive snap on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. What’s interesting is that he got a second rest day. They have talked about getting him regular rest days, but this is the first time it’s happened on back-to-back days.
- Jurgens being on the list could end up being a big problem for the Vikings. With Kelly a near certainty to be out, the Vikings need Jurgens to be able to play.
- The Vikings don’t need to activate Ham or Batty until their 21-day practice windows expire, but the former returning this week makes a lot of sense with the offensive line crisis.
- McCarthy still isn’t practicing, and not seeing him practice on Friday would be a disappointing outcome. There will still be multiple weeks for him to get ready for the Week 7 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
- Turner being added with an illness is one to monitor. However, it’s also early enough in the week that he could be ready to go by Sunday.
Cleveland Browns Thursday injury report
| Player | Injury | W/T/F | Designation |
| EDGE Myles Garrett | Ankle | DNP/Limited | |
| OT Joel Bitonio | Not Injury Related-Rest | Limited/Full | |
| DT Maliek Collins | Not Injury Related-Rest | Limited/Full | |
| OT Jack Conklin | Elbow | Limited/Limited | |
| S Grant Delpit | Back | Limited/Full | |
| DT Mike Hall | Knee | Limited/DNP | Out |
| OT Cornelius Lucus | Not Injury Related-Rest | Limited/Full | |
| TE David Njoku | Knee | Limited/Full |
Observations
- The absence of Garrett is a big deal. He didn’t play the last time the Browns were in London, and there is speculation among fans that he could miss this game. However, practicing in a limited capacity is a good improvement.
- Ruling out Hall this early is a tough one for the Browns. However, they still have Mason Graham, and Collins is now a full participant.
- Njoku is going to be a player to watch. He’s a pivotal piece in their passing offense, including helping out in the run game.
