The Minnesota Vikings again suffered a defeat, this time at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs. The Vikings fell at home by a score of 27-20.
Like every other loss the Vikings have had, there were plenty of chances for the team to win. However, enough plays weren't made and the margin for error is microscopic when you're playing against a QB like Patrick Mahomes.
With that being said, let's get into The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly from this matchup.
The Good: The defense, especially the secondary

Any time you hold Travis Kelce to 67 yards and 1 TD, and Mahomes to 281 yards, that has to be considered a win. The Chiefs couldn’t get anything going on the ground either, as Isiah Pacheco ended with just 55 yards on 16 carries.
This defense performed well enough to win. However, for the second week in a row, the Vikings' offense looked sloppy and out of sync for large swaths of the afternoon.
Harrison Smith, Camryn Bynum, Theo Jackson, Andrew Booth Jr., and Akayleb Evans all had PFF grades above 60. Other than the pass rush again not showing up, there's not much blame to be pinned on the defense.
The Bad: The run game

Once again, the Vikings struggled to run the ball. Alexander Mattison took 8 carries for 26 yards, and Cam Akers took 5 carries for 15 yards. Even if the rest of the offense played fantastic, it would’ve been hard to win with no run game.
Add in that Justin Jefferson and TJ Hockenson were essentially non-factors, and the Vikings' offense was doomed. Until the team finds some consistency on the ground, it will be hard to score enough points to close games out.
The Ugly: Justin Jefferson’s injury

Jefferson left the game in the 4th quarter after slipping on the turf. The star receiver reportedly has a hamstring injury.
Speaking with reporters after the game, Kevin O'Connell didn't want to offer a timeline just yet.
"I'll keep you guys updated on that. It's still very early. We'll see where he's at as we move along here and kind of diagnose exactly what that injury is and what that timeline looks like," O'Connell said of Jefferson.
Even before the injury, the Chiefs did a fantastic job of containing the star receiver. Jefferson collected just 3 catches for 28 yards, by far his worst performance of the season. At 1-4, playoff talk may soon start to be far-fetched even with Jefferson. However, if Jefferson misses time, Vikings fans should probably start thinking about next season.
