While the playoffs are about to begin, the NFL Draft is getting closer and closer. It's always a good thing to keep tabs on where mock drafts are going, especially once January begins. I keep track of who the industry has the Vikings selecting throughout all of draft season with J.J. McCarthy being selected 273 times out of 838 mock drafts last year.

Vikings take stud interior pass rusher in NFL Mock Draft

In his first mock draft of the cycle, ESPN's Jordan Reid has the Vikings bolstering their defensive line in Ole Miss defensive tackle Walter Nolen.

The Vikings could use reinforcements at defensive tackle, and Nolen would provide an interior push for Brian Flores' defense. Nolen played up to his immense potential at Ole Miss after two underwhelming seasons at Texas A&M, finishing with a career-high 6.5 sacks. He was one of the most impressive prospects I saw this fall, as he consistently penetrated the first level with his explosiveness and heavy hands. Don't be surprised if he continues to rise in the pre-draft process.

Nolen was the number one recruit in the 2022 recruiting class, signing with Texas A&M. They signed four of the top 10 defensive lineman in that class and it's paid dividends. Once Nolen moved to Ole Miss, he started to thrive and show why he was the number one recruit.

He would thrive with the Vikings in both run defense and pass rush. Generating an interior pass rush is very important for the Vikings and they need to find a way to do so. Adding Nolen would be a great step toward that goal.
