The 27-9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the wild card round started the offseason for the Minnesota Vikings. They are entering a crucial offseason in the franchises history with general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and head coach Kevin O'Connell.
Now that the offseason has begun, the Vikings are primed to look forward toward making a 2025 run at the Super Bowl. They will have nearly $70 million in projected cap space for the offseason to make that happen with a lot of different roster spots to fill.
Minnesota Vikings 2025 NFL Draft pick is set
The loss to the Rams also set the offseason in motion for the Vikings in multiple ways, including with the NFL Draft. Their first round pick is now set, as the Vikings will pick 24th overall.
This is only going to be the third time that the Vikings will be picking at 24th overall. Their only picks at 24th overall came in 1971 and 1995.
- 1971: RB Leo Hayden
- 1995: OT Korey Stringer
Hayden didn't do much in the NFL, as he played just three seasons in the NFL. Stringer was a huge hit for the Vikings, as he grew into a top-level starter for the six years he played in purple and gold before tragically passing away during 2001 training camp.
The Vikings have picked in the early 20s often over the past five seasons with a lot of success and it's definitely possible for them to do it again.
- 2020: WR Justin Jefferson (22nd)
- 2021: LT Christian Darrisaw (23rd)
- 2023: WR Jordan Addison (23rd)
The Vikings are projected to have four draft picks in the 2025 NFL Draft with a (likely) compensatory third-round pick along with two fifth-round picks.
