The Minnesota Vikings have made it official by activating inside linebacker Ivan Pace Jr. ahead of their week 17 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. They needed to activate Pace by 3 p.m. CST on Saturday in order to have him for the playoff push.

In order to make room for Pace on the active roster, the Vikings have waived linebacker Jamin Davis.

it's a huge move for the Vikings' defense, as they are much better defending the run with his unique skill set in the game. The other caveat of his activation is that Pace will enter the game without a designation, meaning he will play on Sunday afternoon.

Pace's ability to blitz and rush the passer is something the defense has sorely missed over the last four weeks. His presence will make things much more difficult for a Packers' team that thrives running the football.

The Vikings did have to make room for Pace on the roster and they did so by waiving Davis. No sense whether or not the Vikings would add him to the practice squad, but it would be a good idea. He showed some intriguing ability during his limited snaps.

The Vikings and Packers kick off at 3:25 p.m. CST on Sunday.
