We need to start talking about how good Minnesota Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has been in free agent acquiring veteran talent. Over his three offseasons, Adofo-Mensah has brought in so many talented players who fit both the Vikings' culture and scheme.

One of those players is linebacker Blake Cashman. The Minnesota native who attended the University of Minnesota spent five seasons in the National Football League before the Vikings signed him to a three-year deal worth over $7 million per season. He's made a major impact on the Vikings defense and that was made obvious on Sunday.

Vikings ILB Blake Cashman has very impressive day

Cashman had an excellent game but it was more than that. He did something on Sunday that hadn't been done since 2013. He was the first player since then to have a game with the following stats:

  • 13 tackles
  • 1.0 sacks
  • 3 passes defended

Cashman was all over the place for the Vikings on Sunday afternoon. He was making tackles, getting pressure and showing great awareness across the board. He finished the day with a monster stat line.

  • 13 tackles
  • 5 solo tackles
  • 1.0 sacks
  • 1.0 tackles for loss
  • 3 passes defended
  • 1 QB hit

Having this kind of production from the second level is huge for the Vikings defense, as they were too inconsistent last season. If Cashman keeps this up, things could be really good for the Vikings.
