The Minnesota Vikings defense is one of the best units in the National Football League. They have been dominant this season allowing just 15.25 points per game and have forced 13 turnovers, which is second in the National Football League.
Defensive coordinator Brian Flores has done a masterful job in getting these guys thriving on all three levels, including his aggressive nature. The Vikings are second in the National Football League in blitz rate by using it 41.1% of the time per Next Gen Stats.
Vikings blitz wreaked havoc on Aaron Rodgers
Flores wasn't afraid to blitz Rodgers on Sunday morning. Per Next Gen Stats, the Vikings blitzed Rodgers on a whopping 42.1% of his dropbacks. In doing so, they sacked him three times, intercepted him once and allowed 82 yards on 21 attempts.
When the Vikings didn't blitz Rodgers, he was significantly more effective, throwing for both of his touchdowns and not getting sacked once. He was able to attack the Vikings' secondary down the field and wasn't afraid to throw the ball down the field.
The most impressive stat with the Vikings' pass defense is they are allowing a -0.28 EPA/pass play. That's an insane stat when you consider the great quarterbacks they have faced thus far and also that it's easiest to generate EPA through the air.
Flores has been revolutionary for the Vikings and his success is the biggest factor in their 5-0 record.
