It’s brutal news for the Minnesota Vikings

Injuries are a part of the game in the National Football League, and the Minnesota Vikings found that out quickly in their preseason debut against the Houston Texans on Saturday.

In the second quarter, wide receiver Rondale Moore suffered a serious injury to his left leg on a punt return. Initial viewings had it look like it came from a hip drop tackle. That ended up not being the case, but it was tough regardless.

Rondale Moore to miss 2025 season

Moore left on a cart and was visibly upset the entire time he was receiving help from the training staff. The news came out on Tuesday that Moore’s injury was season-ending and he was placed on injured reserve.

It’s especially tough for Moore to suffer the injury, as it was on the opposite leg from his brutal injury in training camp last season. In 2024, Moore had a brutal ACL tear in his right leg that ended his season. The Vikings signed him in free agency with the idea that he could be a viable WR4 for the team, along with a talented punt returner.

Unfortunately, that won’t happen this season, as Moore will be rehabbing a knee injury for the second consecutive year. This leaves the Vikings in a tough spot when it comes to their punt return position. They have been using multiple players at the spot to see who can step up. Right now, that player could end up being rookie UDFA Silas Bolden, who returned a kick for a touchdown against Arizona State in the College Football Playoff for the University of Texas.

It’s a tough one for the Vikings, and we wish Moore all the best in his recovery.
