Throughout the first few days of the offseason, the Minnesota Vikings have inked reserve/futures contracts with multiple players, including prized UDFA signing Gabe Murphy and yesterday added cornerback Ambry Thomas.
On Friday, they continued those signings with cornerback Nahshon Wright, who joined the Vikings this August.
Vikings sign CB Nahshon Wright to reserve/futures deal
Wright was a third-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in the 2021 NFL Draft who was overdrafted by over 200 spots on the consensus board. He was selected to fit Dan Quinn's defense at the time, which was a cover-3 heavy scheme.
The Vikings acquired him in the trade for Andrew Booth Jr. but Wright didn't make the 53-man roster. He did, however, make the practice squad where he was all season. Wright did get elevated from the practice squad for the Vikings' week 13 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals where he played 15 snaps on special teams.
Keeping Wright for the offseason is a smart move, as he possesses elite length for being a defensive back with his 6'-4 frame. He also knows the playbook, which can be valuable during practices in the offseason.
The Vikings now have 15 players inked to reserve/futures contracts.
