The Minnesota Vikings have elevated outside linebacker Bo Richter and tight end Robert Tonyan ahead of Sunday's game against the Houston Texans

We knew the Vikings were going to elevate a tight end due to the broken hand that landed Nick Muse on injured reserve. Elevating Tonyan makes a lot of sense with his experience in the league and how well he played during minicamp and OTAs. The next few games could end up earning Tonyan a roster spot with his experience.

With Dallas Turner out, the Vikings will need to fortify up front. Bringing up Williams over either Carter or Richter is a move based on experience rather than position. Adding Richter shows that the Vikings will want to keep the four edge rusher package rolling even without Turner. Richter flashed in the preseason and will make his regular season debut on Sunday.

The Vikings chose not to elevate a linebacker because they only had two elevations available to them. Plus, with Josh Metellus a quasi-linebacker as well, the Vikings didn't feel the need to elevate a linebacker.

The game kicks off at noon CST.
